Crypto pairs, quote currencies and spot markets
Caliente Signals · Updated
BTC/USDC is the price of one bitcoin in USDC (a stablecoin designed to hold a value of one US dollar). The first name is what you are pricing. The second is what you are pricing it in, and it is called the quote.
Which quote you pick changes the chart. BTC/USDC moves when bitcoin moves. BTC/EUR moves when bitcoin moves or when the euro does, so the two do not tick in step and a rule that fires on one will not always fire on the other. Pick the one you would actually trade, in the currency you actually hold.
What Caliente watches
- 25 pairs quoted in USDC — majors like BTC, ETH and SOL, mid-caps like LINK, ATOM and ARB, and a handful of memecoins including PEPE and SHIB.
- 5 pairs quoted in EUR — BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and BNB.
All of them spot, which means the asset itself at the price it is changing hands for right now. That is the plain version of the market, as opposed to a derivative, which is a contract whose value merely tracks the price. No leverage is involved anywhere in what we read, and no position of yours can be closed out by someone else.
Spot is also why every strategy here is currently long only.
More assets are likely over time, guided by what people ask for rather than by what is easy to add.
Watching is not trading
Caliente reads public market data and has no connection to your exchange account. You can watch any of the thirty pairs whether or not you hold it, and nothing you set up here places an order.
The prices themselves are public. What we built on top of them is the part that matters: the candles fetched and kept in step, the indicators computed the same way every time, your rules checked against them every five minutes, and a message sent the moment one comes true.
