Our signals don't repaint
If you've used charting tools before, “does it repaint?” is the first question worth asking. Here's our answer, in plain language: no — and here's exactly why.
What “repaint” means
A tool repaints when its signals change after the fact. An alert appears on a past candle, looks great — then moves or quietly disappears once newer data arrives. The chart ends up showing trades you could never actually have taken in real time. It's how a mediocre strategy is dressed up to look brilliant in hindsight, and it's the single biggest reason traders distrust signal sellers.
How we prevent it
- Alerts fire only on closed candles. We never act on the candle that's still forming. Once a candle closes and an alert fires, that decision is permanent — it will never move or vanish later, no matter what the next candle does.
- No peeking ahead. When a signal fires at a candle's close, the backtest enters or exits at the next candle's opening price — a price that genuinely existed after the decision. We never settle a trade at a candle's high or low, because in real time you couldn't have known those yet.
- Backtest and live run the same engine. The simulation you see and the alerts you receive come from the same code, with the same timing and the same rules. There's no separate “backtest mode” that flatters the numbers.
- Corrections don't rewrite history. If the exchange later re-publishes corrected candle data (it happens during their outages), we don't retroactively re-fire or un-fire past alerts. What fired, fired.
Why it matters to you
A repainting tool produces gorgeous backtests and disappointing live results — because the backtest was quietly cheating. We would rather show you an honest number that holds up than a flattering one that doesn't. The win-rate and return you see on a Caliente backtest are the same logic that will run on your live alerts.
